Additional programs

In addition to its main mandate, CRD Foster offers the following additional programs.

Driver Evaluation Program

The Driver Evaluation Program is a mandate given to rehabilitation centres by the SAAQ to evaluate individuals found guilty of driving while intoxicated.

Regional Training Program

CRD Foster provides training and consultation on addiction to its Education and Health and Social Services partners. These trainings are offered to front line workers in the Health and Social Services network and to school personnel.

In schools, the objectives of the training are to provide a contemporary understanding of addictive behaviors and develop skills in detection, screening of potential addiction problems and referral to specialized resources.

In the Health and Social Services network, CRD Foster provides training and consultation to the personnel of CSSSs and community organizations in detection, screening and brief motivational intervention techniques for substance abuse and problem gambling. In the Montérégie, these activities are part of the Montérégie Regional Training program funded by the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie.

Research Program

CRD Foster, in partnership with the Addictions Research Centre of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, carries out research projects on addiction and provides transfer of knowledge to the clinical arena in the form of lectures, presentations, publications and training seminars.
