Youth program

The Youth program serves adolescents ages 12 to 17 who reside in the Montreal, Montérégie and Laval regions. The program serves adolescents who present substance abuse and/or problem gambling problems. Services for the youth program are offered on an outpatient basis and the duration of treatment is determined by identified need.

The Youth Substance Abuse program is focused on:

  • the reduction or elimination of harmful patterns of addictive behaviors
  • acquisition of coping skills
  • relapse prevention

The problem gambling program includes individual sessions for a period of up to 13 weeks and is focused on:

  • correcting cognitive distortions about gambling
  • developing problem solving skills
  • teaching social and coping skills
  • relapse prevention

CRD Foster is also part of the Montreal youth access mechanism and is responsible for English speaking youth in need of addiction treatment services. The access mechanism ensures access to a comprehensive evaluation within 7 days, referral to appropriate resources and support while waiting for treatment services. The access mechanism enables greater collaboration with our network partners and facilitates referrals to appropriate resources when a youth is evaluated as needing more intensive or longer term treatment.

CRD Foster also offers services in numerous high schools under the six Anglophone school boards and at various Batshaw Youth and Family Centres and Centre Jeunesse de Montréal residential sites.
